Born close to five decades ago, Oyedeji R. Olarewaju hails from Ila-Orangun, Osun State, South-West Nigeria. He studied for a Diploma in Law at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, and graduated with Upper Credit. He studied Accounting at the University of Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University), where he graduated with a second class (Upper Division). He later went to the University of Lagos (Unilag) to pursue his master’s degree in accounting. R.O. Oyedeji bagged his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management & Accounting from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Dr. Oyedeji is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), a member of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (CILPAN), and a member of the Institute of Cost Managers of Nigeria. He is also an international member of the Certified Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) Canada.

He started his career as Accountant II in the Bursary Department of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, (LAUTECH) Oyo State, Nigeria and he rose through ranks to become a Deputy Bursar in the University. He served as the head of Finance of LAUTECH Post-Graduate School for five years before he was seconded to Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun, Osun State, Nigeria for the re-organization of the finance architecture of the institution. He was made the head of Bursary Department of the institution in 2016, Acting Bursar in 2018, and he later became the substantive Bursar of the College. He completed his tenure in September 2023.

Dr. Oyedeji Olarewaju was appointed as the first substantive Bursar of the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, in August 2025. He is an academic scholar who has written several books and Journal Articles both locally and internationally in the field of accountancy. He is the author of Business Law for Accounting Students (A simplified Approach); Accounting Theory and Standards Development; Management Accounting Manual; Financial Accounting Guides: Methods and Applications volume I & II; Administrative Procedures for Managing Imprest, Advances & Other Financial Matters.

The author has won several awards in the field of accounting, and he is naturally talented in imparting knowledge. He is happily married to Olubanke I. OYEDEJI (CNA), and the marriage is blessed with God-fearing children.
